Lissie's Eye Surgery

We had Lissie's eye surgery today. They worked on the muscles of both eyes, weakening the interior muscles and tightening the outside muscles in order to reposition her eyes. Hopefully after this surgery Lissie won't have to wear her patch anymore!!! My little baby was very brave and the hospital was very good. She changed into her hospital pjs with no problems but she did have an issue with the special socks they gave her. They were huge:)
I even got to change! I was allowed to go back with Lissie when they put her out so I had to put on the "bunny suit." I'm so glad I got to be with Lissie until she was asleep but I have to admit, its very hard to watch them anesthetize your baby.
Here we are waiting for the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. My poor baby was so big and brave.
Everyone was so concerned about Lissie's surgery. Gigi came to the hospital and even brougth some things to entertain Abby.
Of course, Granny was there as well. She took off work to take care of Abby and to be there for me and Lissie.
The surgery was a success. Lissie was a pro. She handled it all so well and was ready to go home only 2 hours after her surgery. When she came out of recovery she did everything they needed her to do and she was so good about not touching or rubbing her eyes. There was a little boy in the bed next to her who just couldn't calm down so you know it had to be hard.
It took a really long time though for Lissie to take off her new glasses and to be without the wet washcloth for her eyes. Here she is at home after being spoiled rotten. She got all the food she wanted, lots of new movies, this new blanket and basically anything she wanted. You would have thought it was her birthday or Christmas!
Abby got spoiled rotten as well. Lissie even picked out some zebra sunglasses for her big sister.
Here's a close-up of Lissie later that evening after her surgery. She's already looking better. Such a big girl.
