Fall Colors in Estes Park

Every year we like to go somewhere in CO looking for the pretty fall colors. This year we went to one of our favorite places, Estes Park. We love seeing the elk and visiting Penelope's our favorite burger joint! The weather didn't cooperate very well as it rained most of the time we were there. We did manage to get a few pretty pics though.

My beautiful Abby

It was the coolest thing ever being able to hear the elk bugle. It is the strangest noise!

Abby's Preschool Fall Festival

Abby's preschool held its annual Fall Festival to raise money for new laptops in the classrooms. It was a wonderful festival with a bake sale, silent auction, lots of games and even a barrel train! The girls had a blast with Daddy and Granny. Mommy had to help out with the duck pond game:)

Here's Lissie devouring her cupcake.

Abby loved the fishing game and even won a flashy baton.

Of course, the favorite for both girls was the barrel train.

They rode it at least three times!

I bid on several items but unfortunately I lost:(

Seven Falls

On Saturday all the girls and Porter went to Seven Falls in Colorado Springs for the morning. It is a beautiful place with lots and lots of stairs and, of course, seven waterfalls. When we first arrived, we watched some Native American dancing and then we tackled the climb.

Here are the girls climbing up the first 224 steps to get to the top.

Once at the top we stopped for awhile to rest. The girls loved the hiking on the natural paths.

They also really enjoyed climbing on the big rocks and checking out the streams.

Here is a view from the top of the other set of steps (194). Abby climbed both set of stairs all by herself and didn't complain or get scared once. She is getting to be such a big girl. Lissie, on the other hand, got Granny to carry her up many of the stairs. That girl is no dummy!

We had a wonderful morning and even got to have a picnic lunch after all our hiking. Its awesome to live in such a great outdoorsy place.

How do you flatten a penny?

Take it to the railroad tracks and smoosh it under a train! We did that with the girls the other day and they LOVED it. They are both so proud of their smooshed pennies!
