Our Cow Adventure

Every week at church Abby sees cows in a pasture next to our building. This week we decided to take her over to get a better look. She and I went right up to the fence and started saying "hi cow". Finally one of them looked up. It was the one pictured here. I thought this would be really cool. Abby can see a cow up close. Well, instead of walking sweetly over to us, the enormous beast charged the fence. I've never moved so fast in all my life. This picture was taken from inside the car where I cowered until Mike came and took us home! I may have scarred Abby for life. The whole ride home she talked about how "I no like cows, they care (scare) me."

My Little 8 Month Old

I can't believe my little baby is already 8 months old. She is growing and changing so quickly. A few noteworthy things....she waves bye-bye and hello now. She talks all the time. My favorite is in the morning, when she wakes up she practices all of her little sounds. It is so cute to hear it over the baby monitor. She lights up any time someone enters the room. She is a true mama's girl and she is very anxious to start moving.
Alisa starting to crawl. Thank goodness she hasn't mastered it yet. I'm not sure I could handle two mobile children.

The Paci-Fairy

On her 2 1/2 year old birthday, Abby gave all of her pacifiers to the paci-fairy. Here she is getting the present that the fairy left behind. Abby loved all of the feathers and confetti! She is such a big girl now.

Sick Again

My poor baby is sick yet again. She's definitely getting the hang of it though. She created this makeshift bed on the couch with her babies all by herself.

I Swear We Do Feed Her......

So this morning just after Abby got out of bed, I heard a very loud scraping noise. Since we are babysitting Jingle Bell, I thought it was the dog moving her breakfast dish across the kitchen floor. As I made my way to the kitchen, I heard the noise again and Abby was no where to be found. I rounded the corner and there she was, moving a dining room chair back to the table. I asked her what she was doing and her response was "I want popcorn." Since Mike had made popcorn the night before I figured she could have some but I couldn't see it on the counter. Then Abby moved past me and picked up the popcorn bag off of the floor. She turned to me and smiled with her naughty little smile and said, "I wanted popcorn." I'm going to have to chain those chairs to the table or keep my counters clear of everything!!!

Mixed Blessing

Abby has become quite independent when it comes to dressing and undressing herself. I originally thought that this was wonderful, especially when we're in a hurry and I can have her put her shoes on all by herself. Tonight though, I have come to realize that this is truly a mixed blessing. About two hours after putting the girls to bed, both of them were still awake. While I was taking care of Lissie, Mike was in with Abby trying to get her back to sleep. After a few minutes of stroking her hair, he realized that her jammies were unzipped. Not only that, her diaper was undone. Further inspection revealed a very wet Abby, jammies, sheet, mattress pad, comforter and a dry diaper. Apparently, Abby had gotten hot and decided to undress herself. New sheets and jammies later, I have decided that while I love that Abs can dress and undress herself, I wish she would seek my permission first!

Sisters

We've been sick again for the past few weeks and to say that I'm at my end is an understatement. Well, yesterday I'd had just about enough. Lissie was crying and wouldn't let me put her down and Abby was whiny and bored out of her mind. So after folding all of our laundry, I decided to put the already crying Lissie down on the couch and let Abby continue to find trouble in another room. Not wanting to be followed or to hear the crying, I shut my bedroom door. I put away my laundry and made the bed, Lissie crying the whole time. All of a sudden though, she stopped. I panicked thinking something bad must have happened and so I ran back to the living room. The sight that greeted me made me realize just how sweet it is to have two children. Abby had heard her sister crying and was now sitting on the couch next to her trying to entertain her with toys. It was just so adorable.
