Three Stories I Don't Want To Forget..........

Reading in the Backseat

Whenever we get into the car, both girls require a book in order make the drive more enjoyable. As I was driving I overheard Abby "reading" her book. R-O-O-S-T-E-R, rooster. D-O-G, dog. S-H-E-E-P, lamb!!! Could she be any cuter?

In Honor of Sam and Joey

We were watching a Baby Einstein video the other day and as a kangaroo hopped across the screen, I asked Abby "what do you call a baby kangaroo?"
Abby: I don't know
Mommy: A joey
Abby: and a big one is called a Sammy!

Next Time I'll Bring A Brick

With Mike rebuilding his Jeep, the only way we've been able to spend time with him is to go with him to pick up parts. This time we went to Colorado Springs to get some random part. Once we got to the shop, a hole in the wall in an industrial part of town, Abby decided that now was the time to need the potty! So, I dropped Mike off to get the part and drove a few blocks down to a McDonalds. The girls and I got out and went to the bathroom. At this point, I'm very proud of myself for being able to get everyone to a clean bathroom and back out with little fuss. I put Abby in her seat and she starts to buckle herself in. I then walk around the car to Lissie to get her all buckled up. As I'm taking care of her, Lissie grabs the car keys from my mouth and plays with them. I am in a good mood so I decide to let her continue playing with them as I finish buckling Abby in. As soon as I shut Abby's door, my heart drops out of my chest as I hear the doors lock! Lissie has been pushing the buttons on the car keys and since I was ready to go, my bag, cell phone etc. are already in the car. I am now all alone, in a not so safe place, with my children locked in the car. What on earth am I supposed to do now? Mike doesn't even know where I am!!! So, after a few seconds which felt like hours of panic, I decide to try and get Abby to get the keys from Lissie. Abby tried to reach for the keys but she is securely strapped into her seat and since Lissie doesn't want to give them up, she can't reach. I tell Lissie, give the keys to Abby. She refuses and pulls them back. After pleading and trying to reason with Lissie for what seemed like an eternity, I came up with another plan. "Okay Lissie, Mommy is going to count to five and then its Abby's turn for the keys. One, two, three, four, five, Abby's turn." When I got to five Lissie very sweetly hands the keys to Abby and she is able to open the door. Never again will I allow Lissie to play with my keys but thank goodness I've taught them to share!!!
