Breck, Day 2

On our last morning with Granny and Grandpa, we had a lazy start and even got Lissie a morning nap. Of course, while she was napping, Abby and Granny went for one last hike to see Frostyman. They took a picture of me watching them from the balcony. After Lissie woke up, we all the girls caught the Breck shuttle into town. Both girls LOVED it. Lissie has never sat so still. Grandpa followed us in the car so that we could have lunch and then just head home without having to worry about the bus schedule. We decided to have lunch in Frisco at the Wendy's there. It was much easier with the girls and a lot less stressful than trying to keep them well behaved in a "nice" restaurant. As you can see we had a blast. And for those of you who know me(I can't stand messes), the picture of Lisse was the hardest thing I've ever had to witness but I was able to bite my tongue and let her have a blast with the ketchup. Unfortunately, right after that, she got up from the table and hit her head, HARD, on a chair leg. Poor baby had a giant bruise the rest of Thanksgiving week. I also put a shot of the train we passed by to and from the condo. When Abby saw it she exclaimed, "oh no, that train isn't moving. Its batteries must be dead!"

Fun In Breckenridge Nov. 24, 2008

Granny and Grandpa went to Breckenridge over Thanksgiving so the girls and I decided to crash their party! We had a blast although it was definitely more of a comedy of errors than anything else. The drive up was very uneventful and the girls were as good as gold. When we got to the "mountains" as Abby kept calling it, we met Granny and Grandpa "in town." We followed them back to their condo and then went back "in town" for lunch. We had great burgers and afterwards we decided to do a little bit of walking. We walked, Lissie decided to run towards the street!!! She also wanted to go into a jewelry store that dinged every time you walk through the door. When I made her stop, she screamed the entire way home until the last two minutes and then she passed out in the car! Isn't she the picture of sweetness and innocence?!
After we got back and put Lissie down for a nap, Abby, Granny and I all went for a hike! Really just a walk along the road. We did walk in the snow though so Abby called it a hike. She loved picking up the snow and throwing it in the air, and at Granny and at Mommy. She also loved eating it. I couldn't resist the picture of my first baby's little bootprints. Aren't they adorable? On the way back to the house, we found a snowman...well, part of a snowman. He was missing eyes, arms and hair, so Abby and Granny had fun fixing him.

After Lissie's nap, we went back into "town" Abby loved calling it that, and went looking for a very special toy store. This time I was smart enough to remember the stroller so both girls were captive and I didn't have to worry about Lissie in the street again! The toy store was wonderful. It had a place in the back where the kids could play! There were slides, and trampolines, bouncy horses and even a kitchen and art station. Both girls loved it. We spent a very very long time there. Since we had spent so much time at the toy store we decided just to eat dinner at home. Mom outdid herself on the grown up food and Abby loved the soup Granny made for her. Lissie on the other hand was not thrilled and ended up getting soup all over her and Granny. It was very funny to watch:) After dinner Abby wanted to go on another hike so we put Lissie to bed in her pack n play and took Abby for a short walk to see some "christmases"(lights). Of course, we spent most of the time throwing snow again! I also had to show you where Abby spent most of her time in the condo, on the stools we used to block Lissie from the stairs! Well, that was day one. I was exhausted by the end and looking very forward to a nice nights sleep. Too bad I was sharing a bed with Abby and although I put the child to bed at 8pm, she would not settle until 1am. Then at 3am, Lissie decided that she was uncomfortable and made fussing noises on and off until I finally gave up all hope of rest at 6am.

Deck

We just redid our deck this fall. The old one had to go. The railing was starting to come off, the girls kept getting splinters and the stairs wobbled so much that we thought they would fall off whenever we walked downstairs! The new deck is fabulous! It is giant and made of Trex, a wood composite, so the girls won't get splinters. We LOVE it!!!

The deck is actually about three times bigger than it once was. It is absolutely fabulous and if we put that gate up, its like a giant outdoor playpen.

Now Abby can take her babies for walks all over the deck, even with her bare feet and not get splinters! She loves the new deck and everytime someone comes over its the first thing she wants to show them. "Come look at my new deck!"

Tea at the Brown Palace

The Saturday before Thanksgiving, the girls went to tea at the Brown Palace. It was wonderful. I had the Chocolate Decadence version with a Vanilla Roobois tea. It was excellent. The hotel was decorated beautifully and the tea was served from silver tea pots and all of the pastries and finger sandwiches were very tasty. The best though were the scones with jam and cream. I have to say though, they did not beat the ones at Harrods but the trip downtown is definitely easier than the flight to England:) Thanks Cheri, Shellie and Cindy for such a wonderful time.

The girls love Jingle Bell. They take every opportunity they can to pet her. Poor dog spends a lot of time with me on the couch to keep out of their reach.

I saw this the other day. Lissie was fussing so Abby climbed up onto the highchair to comfort her. I just love watching the two of them interact.
Look who's peaking out of the door. (Its better if you enlarge it.) Lissie will take any opportunity to sneak out of the door onto the deck.

Here is Abby playing on the deck before it was torn down and replaced. One of her favorite things is to sit on the deck and play with her dolls.

Lissie is a lover of all things soft. Here she is playing with a scrap of material she found. She wouldn't give it up for anything.

Facing Forward!

Here in Colorado, the law states that a child must be 1 year old AND weigh 2o lbs before they are allowed to face forward. Well at 14 months and probably still not 20 lbs we finally turned Lissie around. Her little legs got way too long so it had to be done. Funnily enough, we did the same with Abby because she was also on the teeny tiny side. Lissie absolutely loves being able to face forward. She immediately started kicking her little legs and spent her entire first ride staring out the window with a mesmerized look on her face. It was too cute. Abby loves it as well and constantly talks about how Lissie is now a big girl.

Here is my baby all tuckered out after a long day of shopping. Please note the half eaten cookie in her tiny little hand. Poor baby.
